Scattered showers and rain occurred Friday through northwest and west-central areas of the plains and through central and southeast areas of the Midwest. Dry or with only a few light showers elsewhere in the northern U.S. and Canada. Hot and dry through the southern U.S. areas, very hot in some sections.
