METEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

The upper level charts from last evening feature a strong subtropical ridge centered over the Delta and the southeast U.S. but extending west through the central and southern plains and north into the southern Midwest. We also note a strong high latitude ridge centered east of Hudson Bay on eastern Canada at this time. South of this high and north of the Delta ridge there is weak to moderate jet stream with a trough moving into the northeast U.S. We also note a broad trough covering the western U.S. and western Canada at this time.
