GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cash cattle trade appears to be essentially done for the week following the aggressive spending spree by packers seen Thursday. We have seen a larger string of cattle trade this morning in Nebraska at the top end of Thursday's advance (i.e., $139). According to the midday report, the national hog base is $2.56 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($73.00-77.50, weighted average $76.25). The corn market is 2-3 cents lower, checked by light volume and a general lack of buying interest. The stock market is mixed at this time as investors wait to hear from Chairman Bernanke ...
