GENERAL COMMENTS:

Strong gains in cattle futures are drawing additional attention to the market. At the same time, lean hog futures have posted aggressive morning losses as traders quickly start adjusting to the potential that stronger supplies could develop through the fourth quarter of the year. Corn futures are lower at midday. July corn futures are 2 cents per bushel lower. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 28 points higher while Nasdaq is up 11 points.
