GENERAL COMMENTS:

Widespread market losses are adding to the already soft markets. December lean hog futures are holding the market lower with a $1.25 per cwt loss. Live cattle contracts are contained in narrow to moderate ranges as traders remain uncertain about pressure in grain and outside markets. Corn futures are lower at midday. September corn futures are holding 7 cent losses at midday. Stock markets are lower in light trade. The Dow Jones is 108 points lower while the Nasdaq is down 9 points.
