GENERAL COMMENTS:

Light cattle trading at midday is reported in parts of the North at $197-198, steady to $1 lower than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska (i.e., $198.03). The South remains untested with most showlists priced around $125. Business may not pick up until later this afternoon. According to the midday report, the national hog base compared with the prior day's closing weighted average is 0.24 higher ($78.00 to $93.00, weighted average $91.46). Nearby corn futures are 6-9 cents higher near midday, supported by short covering and weather maps calling for stressful temperatures next week over dry growing areas. ...
