DTN Midday Livestock Comments

GENERAL COMMENTS:

Moderate to strong support has developed in both the lean hog and live cattle futures market despite pressure in boxed beef markets and cash hog values at midday. The higher corn market is drawing follow through pressure into the feeder cattle complex, although trade volume is expected to remain sluggish Thursday. Corn futures are trading higher in light trade at midday. May corn futures are holding 4 cent gains at midday. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 62 points higher while Nasdaq is up 2 points.
