Maybe if I just pretend this column is a lame proposal for yet another movie sequel, Stephen King won't sue me. For a guy consumed with blood and guts and horror, he really seems like the decent sort.

Yet it's probably not smart to argue over intellectual property with a writer whose go-to plot resolution involves throat slashing and disembowelment.

Nevertheless, I plan to charge ahead with this bone-chilling rewrite, in part because "fearless" is my middle name, in part because it's a pretty good bet that the scare-master of "Carrie," "The Shining" and "The Pet Sematary" doesn't read DTN ...
