"Meanwhile, back at the Deja vu Feed & Grain, would-be livestock feeders were hooked on the sharp horns of a maddening dilemma. As they paced between overhead bins, the front office, and getaway pick-ups left in gear, an extremely troubling question skirted both answer and dismissal:

"Is equity preservation better served by paying the breath-taking invoice, or simply running out of feed?"

If some desperate publishing house was dumb enough to pay me a fat advance to write a book about last year's stiff challenge in meat production, I might start it like that.
