TAMPA, Fla. (DTN) -- The North American nitrogen supply-and-demand situation heading into 2014 seems to be fairly balanced, according to a speaker at the 2013 Fertilizer Institute (TFI) Fertilizer Outlook and Technology Conference held recently in Tampa, Fla.

Doug Hoadley, director of agribusiness analysis with CF Industries Inc., gave the nitrogen outlook and said there were some demand assumptions he made for his presentation. His company figures there will be 92 million acres of corn and 56.5 ma of wheat planted in 2014.

"We believe nitrogen application rates will be stable to slightly higher," Hoadley said.
