If the highest possible vantage point is critical for a reliable and meaningful market outlook, I couldn't ask for a better spot from which to assess the cattle-feeding prospects of 2014. Indeed, my current perspective amid all-time record prices for fats, feeders and cows may be the equivalent of Mount Olympus itself. Move over Zeus, and hand me the binoculars.

Before attempting to describe the middle and far horizons of feedlot potential, let me start by admitting a good deal of surprise at the extraordinary bullish way this remarkable year has started.
