Replacement heifers continue to climb in value as producers look to rebuild herds and replace older cows this season. This year's Show-Me-Select sale at Fruitland Livestock Auction reported record prices with an average take of $2,644 per head across 136 bred heifers.

Roger Eakins, southeastern coordinator for the Show-Me-Select (SMS) heifer development program in Missouri, said AI-bred heifers and their Tier 2 heifers were highly sought after during this recent sale. One lot of four commercial heifers brought an average price of $3,200 each.
