Deadly winter storm continue to paralyze the South, with ice leaving abandoned vehicles lined up on roadways in many areas after drivers surrendered their futile efforts to travel. Other areas of the country, while not as embattled with ice-covered roads, are dealing with unprecedented amounts of snowfall and below freezing temperatures.

These winter storms have also caused problems with semi-trucks brought to a standstill, jack-knifed on the road or crashing to a halt.
