OMAHA (DTN) -- Farmers feel less optimistic about the agriculture economy as lower crop prices collide with hefty input bills, according to the latest DTN/The Progressive Farmer Agriculture Confidence Index results.

The final Agriculture Confidence Index of 2013 came in at 105.5, a 3.6-point drop from last year. Farmers' assessments of their present situation, however, took an even sharper decline, reflecting farm incomes that have returned to more normal levels after several record-setting years.

A value of 100 is considered neutral with higher values indicating optimism and lower values reflecting pessimism. DTN surveyed 500 farmers and ranchers across the country ...
