EPA Rejects Ethanol Waivers

OMAHA (DTN) -- A waiver of the nation's Renewable Fuels Standard would only lower corn prices roughly 1%, the Environmental Protection Agency stated Friday in a decision not to grant requests to waive the standard for this year and next.

EPA won't waive the 15.2-billion-gallon mandate for biofuels this year, or the 16.55-billion-gallon mandate for 2013. Immediate reaction was split between the grain and livestock sectors, which had quite different takes on the EPA's ruling.
