GENERAL COMMENTS

The cash cattle trade is slow in the early rounds with just a few bids noted in parts of the North at $252-$253. Asking prices are poorly defined with some ideas identified around $163-plus in the South and $255-plus in the North. Hog buyers have resumed work this morning with bids $0.50-$1 lower. The corn market has opened 1-2 cents lower in limited volume. U.S. stocks mostly cleared opening gains as investors weighed the implications of a U.S. military strike against insurgents in Iraq. The Dow at this time is 5 points higher with the Nasdaq off 1.
