OMAHA (DTN) -- Every night after LeRoy Zierke's hip replacement surgery in December 2008, he received a visit from Adam Venteicher, now 24, to see what he could help with on the farm.

Later, when Zierke considered renting out 160 acres of irrigated farmland near Pierce, Neb., he remembered Venteicher's attentiveness.

"I never asked him to come over," Zierke said. "I told my wife I know who is going to get first chance at it if he wants to farm and rent it."
