INDIANOLA, Iowa (DTN) -- In many rural states, employment is tight and getting tighter. In North Dakota, "if you have a heartbeat and can pass a drug test, you can make at least $50,000 working for an oil company," said Chris Johnson, a farmer near Wahpeton, N.D., who sees his potential labor pool drawn to the Bakken oil fields like miners to the Gold Rush.
