Ag Labor Issues Unresolved

Larry Wooten doesn’t see legal relief coming anytime soon to help farmers with the issues of immigration and the hiring of migrant workers. Instead, he’s likely to see a patchwork of more state laws, requiring them to use the E-Verify system for workers.

“It’s a huge issue for agriculture. It’s a huge issue for the country. We need to have a reasonable dialogue and stop kicking the can down the road. For agriculture, clearly, we have got to have these workers,” says Wooten, president of the North Carolina Farm Bureau.
