Phil and Jim Herring, brothers known for producing high-yielding soybeans and corn at Harpster, Ohio, live in wonder about the year-to-year variability in the weather, in their crops and in their harvests on a farm that has been worked by the family for 160 years.

Their 2012 entry in the Ohio Soybean Association Ohio Soybean Yield and Quality Contest earned first place with a 94.03-bushel-per-acre entry in the no-till division. The farm also placed third in the same category with another entry of 83.17 bushels.
