LANGDON, Mo. (DTN) -- Being a farmer means feeling optimistic that seed will grow when placed in the ground, rain will fall in just the right amount, and somehow markets employed to sell harvested crops and livestock will pay the bills with a good return.

Like farmers everywhere, View From the Cab farmers Kane Bercaw of Union City, Mich., and William "Shep" Sheppard of Louisiana, Mo., feel a roller coaster range of emotion with each rise and fall of crop conditions.
