Belarus Potash Prices Hold

MOSCOW (Dow Jones) -- Belarus is not prepared to cut prices for potash as it would damage the country's economy, deputy prime minister Vladimir Semashko said, according to Belarusian state media Wednesday.

Belarus has been under pressure since Russian potash producer Uralkali announced in late July that it was dropping out of a trading partnership with state-run Belaruskali with the intention of pursuing a volume over price strategy. The move ended an informal global pricing cartel and sent potash company stocks falling around the world.
