GENERAL COMMENTS:

Livestock futures are mostly lower Thursday morning. Lean hog futures posted sharp gains early in the session, but have eroded quickly due to widespread weakness in the cattle market. Traders are looking for some additional support from cash and wholesale meat values at the end of the week. But for now, very little support is developing. Corn futures are lower at midday. September corn futures are holding 6 cent losses at midday. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 8 points higher while Nasdaq is up 6 points.
