GENERAL COMMENTS:

Sharp losses have developed in feeder cattle futures. The rest of livestock complex is holding moderate to strong gains based on expected long-term production costs. Corn futures are higher at midday. September corn futures are holding 22-cent gains at midday. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 40 points higher while Nasdaq is up 31 points.
