Slim Chance for '13 Farm Bill

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (DTN) -- With farmers not relying on traditional commodity programs as much, it's been difficult building effective synergy to get a five-year farm bill passed.

A possible solution -- though one she would not recommend -- would be a proposal to cut taxpayer support for crop insurance, said Mary Kay Thatcher, a lobbyist for the American Farm Bureau Federation.
