OMAHA (DTN) -- Jeff Topp is still waiting for rail cars that were supposed to be delivered to his Grace City, N.D., elevator on Jan. 5.

"And I consider myself one of the fortunate ones," he said, adding that rail shipments have fallen so far behind that local durum mills and malt barley facilities are struggling to run at capacity. Larger grain elevators keep asking Topp, who deals mostly in specialty grains like flax, if he'd sell the grain car space he hasn't yet received.
