If I had a time machine, I'd travel back to 1979. Not just because of how buff I was back then, but because on a cold November afternoon during my first year in college, my life switched from analog to digital.

In a basement classroom of the university economics building was an Apple II computer set up with the VisiCalc program, a very early spreadsheet program. And the spreadsheet on it was set up with a budget for a single acre of corn.
