SAO PAULO, Brazil (DTN) -- Wonder why Brazil hasn't grown to dominate the soybean market as some U.S. analysts forecast 15 years ago?

Consider this: It takes up to 12 days for a truck driver to do the 2,700-mile round-trip from the soybean fields of Sorriso in Mato Grosso to Paranagua, the main soybean port, in high season.

Then consider this: Brazil uses many of the same grain port terminal installations as in the 1990s to cope with shipments that have risen from 34 million metric tons in 2003 to 80 mmt in 2014.
