Wheat Seed Stocks Appear Safe

OMAHA (DTN) -- While Monsanto officials still do not know how glyphosate-tolerant wheat plants appeared in a fallow Oregon wheat field last month, the company has tested the parent seed of the wheat varieties planted in that field in 2011 and tested parent seed representing some 60% of the varieties used in that region and found no evidence of contamination by the unapproved genetically-engineered trait for glyphosate resistance.
