Seed Comments Wanted

OMAHA (DTN) -- The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has extended the comment period for its intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) for three cultivars of corn and soybean resistant to 2,4-D. The seeds, part of Dow AgroSciences Enlist herbicide-tolerant seed system, were set for commercial launch in 2013. In May, APHIS announced that it would be preparing an EIS on the genetically engineered seeds before allowing commercial launch. It also called for an EIS on similar seeds, resistant to dicamba herbicide, that are being created by Monsanto.
