Grassley Seeks Propane Price Probe

STREATOR, Ill. (DTN) -- U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a letter Jan. 23 to the Federal Trade Commission seeking a review of the recent price spikes for propane in Iowa.

"The recent propane supply shortage and price increases are causing hardship for the many rural Iowa families that use propane to heat their homes," Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote to FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. "I'm asking the agency that oversees business practices to look at the propane situation and see whether the price increases are legitimate or manipulation in any way to consumers' detriment."
