Wet Spring Woes

LAWRENCE, Kan. (DTN) -- As farmers in the western Great Plains scan the skies longingly for rain clouds, farmers in parts of the eastern and northern Corn Belt pray they stay away.

"My brother-in-law farms in far eastern Ohio in Coshocton County, and they have nothing in the ground," western Ohio farmer Jeff Wuebker told DTN. "Since the first week of May, they're pushing 7 inches of rain. We're fortunate in that we've been missed a lot. Fifty to 75 miles in any direction from me and they are really, really wet."
