Enlist Edges Ahead

DECATUR, Ill. (DTN) -- Farmers concerned about the decreasing number of viable weed control options got good news Wednesday. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposed decision to register Enlist Duo, the complimentary herbicide to be used with corn and soybeans genetically engineered to tolerate 2,4-D. The trait system is being developed by Dow AgroSciences.

The EPA also opened a 30-day comment period on the herbicide, giving the public an opportunity to provide input before the agency makes a final registration decision. Enlist Duo contains glyphosate and the choline salt of 2,4-D.
