Corn is rapidly growing and beginning to tassel at a time when soil nitrogen reserves might be running out because of excessive rain. However, if nitrogen reserves are short, you still have some options available to rescue the crop and preserve yield.

A lot of rain the past two months has meant a lot of nitrogen was lost from fields planted to corn, unless it was side-dressed or stabilized. Even stabilized nitrogen is not totally protected from 12 to 18 inches of rain over a 30-day period.
