Gravity does not have the same pull on soccer players as it does on the rest of us -- their ability to leap, twist, and fly through the air seems to defy physics. Nor does gravity appear to affect them in a constant or predictable manner. Any nudge or mild collision with an opponent (or, in some cases, a bite or head butt from an opponent) can send a soccer player flailing to the ground in instant agony.
