OMAHA (DTN) -- The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service this week released a final environmental impact statement (EIS) that appears to clear the way for the sale of Enlist corn and soybean seeds, which are genetically engineered to withstand applications of Enlist Duo herbicide, a new 2,4-D formulated specifically for those seeds.

APHIS said the Enlist seed products, developed by Dow AgroSciences, would help farmers in the near-term combat what has become a national problem with herbicide-resistant and tough-to-control weeds.
