Farm Bill Status Muddled

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., sent all Republican members of the House a memo late Tuesday that he intends to move forward with a conference on the farm bill and will not wait for the House to pass a nutrition bill for the conference to proceed.

Lucas then later contradicted that statement by saying he does not expect the House leadership to appointee conferees before the House considers a nutrition bill. It's unclear when that nutrition bill will get a debate.
