New Farm Bill Now Final

OMAHA (DTN) -- After clearing a key procedural vote on Monday, the Senate passed the final version of the farm bill Tuesday afternoon in a 68-32 vote, sending the legislation to President Barack Obama to sign.

As one farm leader noted, passage of the bill ends a long and torturous road for farm groups, conservationists, the crop insurance industry and nutrition advocates to land a bill that will reduce the projected rate of spending about $23 billion over 10 years.
