Farm Bill Passes Key Vote

OMAHA (DTN) -- The farm bill passed a key procedural vote on Monday in the U.S. Senate that should lead to final passage of the legislation Tuesday afternoon.

Senators voted 72-22 to approve a motion to limit debate and set up one last vote on Tuesday.

Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., noted in her comments on the Senate floor that the 2008 farm bill expired 490 days ago. It was time to adopt a new one.
