EPA Sued Over Livestock Data

OMAHA (DTN) -- A number of environmental and other interest groups are suing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, seeking to force the agency to collect information on concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFOs, saying the information is necessary for EPA to protect waterways.

The Center for Food Safety, Environmental Integrity Project, Food and Water Watch, the Humane Society of the United States, and Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement argue in the lawsuit filed this week in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia that EPA's withdrawal of a proposed reporting rule "lacks the rational basis required by law."
