Cover Crops Expand Nationally

SHENANDOAH, Iowa (DTN) -- Jim O'Hara likes to fly under the radar as a farmer, so he felt a little uncomfortable Friday as his farm hosted a field event on cover crops that included Iowa's governor.

O'Hara has been a no-till farmer since 1979 -- a decision that back then upset his father who was a firm believer in the moldboard plow. "He just thought I was ruining the farm," O'Hara said.

His father eventually got over that change in farming practices and O'Hara has continued to seek ways to reduce soil erosion and prevent nutrient loss from his farm. ...
