OMAHA (DTN) -- Advocates for immigration reform are counting on Congress moving beyond the battle over the federal government shutdown and the debt ceiling.

United Farm Workers and other Latino groups are again rallying Tuesday on Capitol Hill with Democratic lawmakers "to demand House Republican leadership pass comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship."

Last week, House Democrats introduced their own version of a comprehensive reform bill with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., challenging Republicans to bring an immigration bill to the floor by the end of the year.
