Some Sugar Customers Reportedly Bailing Out of Contracts

Several U.S. sugar refiners are suing some of their customers for defaulting on contracts; further highlighting the effect of sinking sugar prices and the biggest sugar surplus in over a decade in the United States. The problem is similar to one that has plagued cotton merchants over the past several years as customers sought to abrogate contracts because they agreed to purchase cotton at prices significantly higher than current prices.
