Several Meet on Farm Bill

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- The chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate Agriculture committees met Wednesday and made plans for the farm bill conference as congressional leaders finalized a budget deal that could also involve the farm bill.

A spokeswoman for House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., confirmed to DTN that the meeting had taken place.

"Depending on the House and Senate schedules, the first formal conference meeting could be scheduled as early as next week," the spokeswoman said.
