Senators Hear Need for Relief

OMAHA (DTN) -- While policymakers attest to the resilience of the American farmer with forecasts again this week of strong farm incomes, those producers without effective risk-management tools were hit hard by 2012 disasters.

Members of the Senate Agriculture Committee held a hearing Thursday in Washington to hear from farmers how to better buffer ag producers from financial collapse at the hands of what could be a third year of drought in some parts of the country. The hearing was webcast.
