New Farm Bill a Fool's Errand

OMAHA (DTN) -- Continuing to tear through others in Washington who are ambivalent about the farm bill, House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson wrote a letter to House leaders calling it a "fool's errand" to try crafting new farm policy after the way Agriculture Committee legislation was treated over the past several months.

Peterson, a Democrat from Minnesota, wrote House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., on Thursday seeking a written commitment from GOP leaders that they will allow a debate on any farm bill passed by the committee.
