NAIROBI, Kenya (DTN) -- Francis Gakuu and his wife are teachers with a home on the side of a foothill just outside of Nairobi, Kenya. The couple dabbles there in Francis' real joy -- pig farming.

"I've been a farmer since I was a very young boy. I love it more than teaching," Gakuu told a group of journalists who visited his home earlier this month.

With 20 sows in a small confinement next to his house, Gakuu is considered a fairly large hog farmer. He makes about 195 Kenyan shillings per kilogram of meat. That's about $1 a pound ...
