USDA to Increase Monitoring of SNAP for Debit Card Fraud

Responding to some of the criticism it received during the farm bill debate, USDA yesterday announced that it will take additional steps to assure that benefits provided under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps) are not converted to cash, in contravention of federal law.
