CBO Sees Carbon Tax as Significant Source of Federal Revenue

If the United States were to institute a $25 per metric ton tax on carbon-containing greenhouse gas emission, it could raise just over a trillion dollars in revenue by 2021 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from affected industrial sources by 10%, the Congressional Budget Office said in a report on deficit reduction issued earlier this week.
