Washington Insider: Farm Bill Floor Defeat –– A Review

As most everyone knows by now, the House Ag Committee bill was voted down resoundingly on the House floor. The defeat occurred early enough in the day so that a long list of speakers were able to mount arguments about how "unexpected" and "surprising" it all was. The House leadership, especially, had honed and refined the amendment package — and now faced questions about its strategy, and everything else about the fight they lost.
